When you’ve found the perfect site with the potential for gorgeous ocean vistas, you do what Bill and Pam Heidler did: buy it! The Heidlers turned an old single story ranch house on a double lot in Encinitas into a two-story modern Craftsman that now boasts panoramic views of the Pacific and the ability to allow them to stay in the house as they get older. It was fascinating to learn from the Heidlers and their friend and architect Kristin von Zweck how they accomplished this.
