I’m Caron Golden. I’ve been an independent writer and editor since 1991, focusing on food, general business, technology, sustainability, and travel.
Among the many places my work has been published are Saveur, the Los Angeles Times, the San Diego-Union Tribune, Edible San Diego, SDNN.com, culinate.com, San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, Copley News Service, Sunset, Orange Coast, civic.com, Government Computer News, Federal Computer Week, Biolink Communications, Oncology News International, Financial Service Online and ID World.
Corporate clients include Deloitte & Touche, Wipro Consulting, Dial/Henkel, Oracle, the National Energy Center for Sustainable Communities, Audatex, Masar Johnston, Crescent Partners, and The Pinehills.
I offer a broad range of writing and editing services, which includes:
Feature articles in areas like food, travel, business and technology, general lifestyle issues, and sustainability
Newsletters and brochures
Specialty publications
Non-fiction book proposal and book manuscript ghost writing and editing
Online content development and editing, including blogs
I also write San Diego Foodstuff, a blog on food and food shopping in the San Diego region. I’m discovering and writing about San Diego’s culinary treasures, everything from ethnic markets and farmers markets to artisan bakeries and cheese shops.
My food writing has led to work in radio. For a year, I co-hosted a weekly online show called San Diego Gourmet on signonradio.com. And, I’m a monthly guest on KPBS radio’s weekday noon show Midday Edition.
One of my passions is social media and social networking. I’m on Twitter, Linkedin, and Facebook. With this involvement, I’ve been coaching clients like UCSD, Marguarite Clark Public Relations, and Warren Sheets Design on how they can take advantage of this phenomenon, and implement social media programs for corporate and non-profit clients. This includes writing blogs and managing Twitter and Facebook accounts. I’ve made presentations on social media to organizations like the Sales & Marketing Council of Southern California and the San Diego Press Club as well as a group of former San Diego Union-Tribune reporters. You can listen to excerpts of the Press Club presentation here.
